Great Reef Census

Great Reef Census

We are excited to share some wonderful news! Our students at Lycée Français Jean Mermoz are incredibly enthusiastic about their active participation in the# Citizens of the Great Reef Barrier census initiative. They are wholeheartedly committed to supporting Goal 14 of the United Nations' "Life Below Water" as a vital part of # COP 28, currently taking place in Dubai.

Our students are playing a crucial role in this initiative by rapidly analyzing images collected in the water to determine coral type and cover. This valuable information helps scientists gain a deeper understanding of what is happening at surveyed sites, enabling them to quickly target protections each year for the conservation of the Great Barrier Reef.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible team at Citizens of the Great Reef Barrier, especially Nicole Senn and Benjamin Vozzo, for their engaging and interactive sessions with LFJM students. Your contributions have ignited their passion for marine conservation and made this initiative even more meaningful.

We also want to express our gratitude to the high-performing team at LFJM's English Department for their support and collaboration throughout this project.

Together, we are working towards a brighter and more sustainable future for our oceans. Thank you for being a part of this journey !#COP28
