A Year of Engagement in Islamic Studies – 2024–2025 Highlights from Semester 1 & 2
The 2024–2025 academic year has been a dynamic and enriching one for the Islamic Studies department at Lycée Français Jean Mermoz. Across both semesters, students took part in diverse learning experiences that deepened their understanding of historical, cultural, and spiritual themes in a contemporary context.
Semester 1: Heritage and Inquiry
From research projects on early Muslim scholars and their influence on modern science, to active participation in UAE Flag Day and National Day, students in Semester 1 explored the intersection of history, culture, and identity through both classroom activities and special events.
Semester 2: Reflection and Community
Semester 2 featured hands-on and student-led experiences such as a Hajj simulation, Ramadan reflections, and class assemblies. These activities emphasized empathy, reflection, and active participation, while strengthening connections among students and with the wider school community.
We commend the Islamic Studies team for designing a thoughtful and inclusive program that continues to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness.
